SOUNDING THE ALARM ON THE MARRIAGE
PROTECTION AMENDMENT

Dear Brethren

In my last correspondence I brought some good news – the Senate passage of The Broadcast Decency Act. Now, however, as your Watchman here in D.C., I must sound a certain and clear alarm (Ex 10:9), two of them in fac

1 The “Comprehensive Immigration Reform” legislation passed as I write;

2 The Marriage Protection Amendment, which is due for a vote in the full Senate on June 5 or 6 (it needs 67 votes to pass).

These two matters, singularly or (even worse) together, threaten our country’s heart and soul. Why? They will undo the moral and legal glue that has kept us unified since the first settlers arrived in the 1600’s. Allow me to discuss the Marriage issue in a little depth.

If the homosexual “marriage” movement is not stopped, everything “moral” (as defined by God in His Holy Bible) will be challenged, censured as “oppressive”, and eventually overthrown by pagan judges who have an obvious anti-Christ agenda.
This is already happening as judges, state “Supreme” courts, and/or state legislators overturn state referenda that establish “marriage as between a man and a woman” (please read Star Parker’s article about ardent lesbian Mary Chaney’s new book http://www.townhall.com/opinion/columns/StarParker/2006/05/22/198242.html).
  • There is a direct “correlation between the preservation of traditional marriage and religious liberty” (Gary Bauer, 5/22/06).

  • Once homosexual marriage is legal, our religious liberties will be stripped away” (Don Wildmon, 5/15/06) – for more information on the subject see www.AFA.net and http://www.ifapray.org/NewsletterHTML/IFANL2005/MarPg3_2005.htm.

  • Note that, after Christians delivered the deciding electoral votes in Ohio in 2004 because of this issue, the Bushes (especially Laura) and the Chaneys (see article listed above about Mary’s book) are now either very silent or hostile to this Amendment
So, how to PRAY:
  1. WITH URGENCY; it will be difficult to get past the Democrats’ filibuster, much less get 67 votes in the Senate.
  2. Ask the Lord to RULE in this process; nothing is too difficult for Him (Jer 32:17c).
  3. We need to REPENT that things have reached this point; that we, the Church, have allowed God’s message to be so weakened and compromised that there is not much FEAR OF THE LORD or LOVE OF HIS PRECEPTS left in our public squares or in His Church.

Your prayerful Watchman in D.C.,
