BE NOT DISMAYED! Broadcast Decency Bill Passes
- Dear Brethren
It has been a bad season for the Republicans and their conservative base for too long. As a political observer here in D.C., I have long been aware that, behind the scenes, conservative Republicans in both the House and the Senate have been consistently laboring to get good legislation passed and signed. This usually goes unreported and, therefore, is unappreciated by the base.
- Such is not the case with The Broadcast Decency Enforcement Act, which was unanimously passed by the Senate last week. Sponsored by one of our heroes, Sen. Sam Brownback (R-KS), it will increase fines for television and radio stations which broadcast indecent and offensive material.
As the linked article states (www.family.org/cforum/extras/a0040567.cfm), the House has passed a slightly different bill; so the two versions will have to be reconciled, which has been a problem in the past.
Please be encouraged! Good stuff is being attempted by Christians on Capitol Hill and, amidst all the angst over immigration, is to be appreciated and applauded.
Please read the linked article. The political maneuvering in the Senate was very interesting and shows how hard some people are trying do the right thing (our next letter will discuss the Marriage Protection Amendment and the Bush/Cheney families' roles in that vital piece of legislation)
So, how to pray:
-
- 1. Thank the Lord for inspiring the passage of The Broadcast Decency Enforcement Act;
2. May the House be compelled to cooperate with the Senate's version.
It is gratifying to bring you good news and, for a change, positive Prayer Targets. Please do not lose heart! Keep PRAYING! God may not be finished with the USA.
