A PRAYER FOR 2006

Dear Brethren & Others:

I am for peace; but when I speak, they are for war (Ps 120:7).

I pray that 2006 will be a happy and blessed year for you and your families and for our nation! And what could be a greater blessing than the confirmation of Judge Samuel Alito and a reconfigured U.S. Supreme Court, one which will tend more to a constitutional worldview than one which embraces a “doing what’s right in his own eyes” perspective (Jdg 29:25)? The hearings start next Monday, January 9.

You all know about Judge Alito. You also are aware that the leftists—socialists—atheists—abortionists—homosexuals—major media—Bush-haters coalition is launching an all-out war against Alito.

It is clear in Scripture (2 Cor 1:21) and in History (see Winston Churchill, Ronald Reagan and Pope John Paul II, for example) that the Lord raises up certain people and anoints them to fulfill His purposes. I believe Judge Alito is such a man – anointed to help restore Justice to our nation.
Therefore, those who oppose him oppose the Lord and His purposes. What does He say about this?

“Who can stretch out his hand against the Lord’s ANOINTED and be guiltless” (1 Sam 26:9).

“How was it you were not afraid … to destroy the Lord’s ANOINTED” (2 Sam 1:14).

“Shall not Shimei be judged severely for this, because he cursed the Lord’s ANOINTED” (2 Sam 19:21).

“Do not touch my ANOINTED one” (1 Chron 16:22).

Clearly God gets engaged in these matters. In heaven the Lord “laughs” when wicked people “plot” such vain things (see Psalm 2). Yet, we have a role. We also must get engaged in natural means as well as spiritual.

We must PRAY! Fervently! With concern for Justice to be restored to our courts!

Here are some ideas for focused, fervent prayers:

1. PRAY against the tricks, lies and efforts of this coalition of evil-doers; that the Lord will “FRUSTRATE and CONFUSE their devices” and schemes (Job 5:12-16; Ps 35:48);
2. THAT Judge Alito will be so ANOINTED that he will find FAVOR with the American people and with sufficient Senators to be confirmed; that the Holy Spirit will speak through Judge Alito (Mk 13:11).

Please, Brethren, this is a struggle for our nation! Do not be casual about it! Do not look away! Get engaged! The other side certainly is engaged.
