Dear Praying Brethren & Others:

A false witness will not go unpunished, And he who speaks lies will not escape
(Pr 19:5).

When Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) compares the treatment of the jihadist murderers and thugs at Gitmo to the atrocities of Hitler, Stalin and Pol Pot, many people will say, "Oh, that may be an exaggeration, but it could not be termed 'a lie'".

Yet, according to God, an exaggeration IS A LIE! It is a "false witness" which, we read above, must be punished! Here we have a major magistrate making such obvious lies and exaggerations that even his allies have begged him to "apologize" and his opponents have called for a vote of "censure" a la Sen. Joseph McCarthy of 1950s fame.

But, back to our Scripture verse above. Who is going to "punish" Sen. Durbin? From whom will he never escape (unless he repents and becomes a true follower of Jesus Christ)? The answer: GOD the Father of our Lord Jesus!
Charles Bridges, in his 1846 commentary on the Book of Proverbs (the most authoritative ever-written on that book) notes:

"The careless liarlies open and unveiled before the eyes of God. It (the lie) shall not be unpunishedno excuses are admitted at the bar of God. 'All liars shall have their part in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone' (Rev. 21:8)."

So, here we have it! Sen. Durbin issued a so-called "apology" on Tuesday from the Senate floor that seemed filled with many "ifs". He never once confessed that he was wrong in his analogy. He seemed to place the blame for this crisis on his critics. This is no apology nor is it true repentance for the sin of false witnessing. Yet, Sen. Durbin must truly repent and ask for forgiveness from the Lord for his gross partisan exaggerations ­ or a grim fate awaits him when he approaches God's bar.

We must PRAY FOR HIM! His soul is more important than this political skirmish. Please pray for his salvation before it's too late!
