Dear Praying Brethren & Others:

As we discussed last week the ultra-liberal HATES, DESPISES and DENIGRATES Christ, His followers and His agenda.

They call us "Christers," "theological oligopolists", "theological fundamentalists", "haters" (Howard Dean), "common criminals" (Howard Dean), "religious fascists", "our homegrown Taliban" (Sen. Tom Harkin), etc., etc.

One of my favorite commentators, Michael Medved, believes "the main reason for Bush-hatred is his religiosity The left has an underlying prejudice against Christianity and Judaism."

Rush Limbaugh states, "The left considers Christians a greater threat to this country than Islamic terrorists." I would agree and add that the left seems to prefer the Koran and Sharia Law to the Bible, the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution (which they are systematically destroying through judicial activism).

Who are "the left"? In broad, general terms, it breaks down into four elements: Democrats (and lefty Republicans); groups like the ACLU, People for the (so-called) American Way, N.O.W., Americans United for Separation of Church and State, Planned Parenthood, National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, various environmental organizations, etc; the so-called "mainstream media" led by the New York Times, Washington Post, television networks, news organizations like A.P., Knight-Ridder and Reuters, magazines, etc.; and finally the religious left (National Council of Churches, Methodists, Episcopalians, many Presbyterians and Lutherans, U.C.C., Unitarians, liberal Jews, and of course, Muslims).

All the above are the real "haters". Their numbers seem formidable. Yet there is something they do not understands and we can count on. This is expressed in 16th Century terms by Thomas Becon (1512-1567), Chaplain to Archbishop Thomas Cranmer (the Martyr):

"...[I]t comes to pass that they hate, persecute, banish and condemn both Thy Blessed Word, and all the favorers thereof[T]he adversaries of Thy Blessed Word are many in number; and there are very few who sincerely, purely, and even with the heart embrace and follow Thy heavenly doctrine. No marvel! For little is Thy flock, O Lord, to whom it hath pleased Thy Father to give the kingdom of heaven; and although many He made, yet few shall be saved. For many are called, but few are chosen; so that the true lovers of Thy Word are few, but the enemies thereof are many.

"But, O Lord, it is comforting that, although the adversaries of Thy Truth be innumerable, and albeit the powers of this world stand up, and come together against the Lord and His Anointed, and by no means will submit themselves to the yoke of Thy Blessed Law, but seek all means possible to break it and to cast it away from them; YET SHALL THEY NOT PREVAIL: their imaginations, their counsels and devices shall come to naught. For there is no wisdom or counsel that can prevail against the Lord. Thou that dwells in heaven mocks their VAIN ENTERPRISES, and laughs to scorn both them and their subtle devices" (modernizations and emphases mine).

To sum it up, the enemies of the Lord and His Word are many. His true lovers are few, but nothing and nobody "can prevail against the Lord".
Hallelujah! He is laughing at, scorning and mocking His enemies' "vain enterprises" right now (see Psalm 2).
