"You shall appoint judges which
the Lord your God gives you, and they shall judge the people
with just judgment. You shall not pervert justice; you shall
not show partiality, nor take a bribe You shall follow what
is altogether just, that you may live and inherit the land which
the Lord your God is giving you. (Deut 16:18-20)
This is not just another desperate cry regarding the Judge/Filibuster
matter. By now we all understand what's happening.
But, do you know, do you understand, do you care what the
Ruler of the Universe and the Supreme Judge (Jesus) wants?
Let's look at the passage above to find out:
Firstly, Judges are to "judge the people with 'just
judgment.'" According to the Bible that is only attainable
by paying heed to God's laws nowhere else (Prov 2:1-8).
Therefore, these men and women nominated to be Federal Judges
must know and instinctively apply God's Laws to their decisions.
If they don't, they are "ungodly judges" who "take
the law into their own hands" and, according to one eminent
theologian, "are to be feared and hated; they represent
a particularly fearful and ugly form of evil and their abuse
of office (which God entrusted to them, I might add) is a deadly
cancer to society."*
"Oh, how mean and hateful" you might say. But, isn't
it true that the decisions made by many ungodly judges in our
land have been "cancerous"? Think of abortion, homosexuality,
homosexual "marriage", rampant pornography, prayer
in school, the Bible in school, the Pledge of Alliance, partial
birth abortion, and the Ten Commandments to name but a few. Hasn't
a moral cancer spread through our national body and isn't our
Judeo-Christian culture that God gave us (v. 20) being destroyed?
What better argument for confirming God-fearing men and women
who will apply "just judgment"! May it be!
Secondly, Judges and those who appoint and confirm them
should not "show partiality not take a bribe" (v. 19).
But, isn't that what has been happening? Many Judges on the bench
today do not seek to represent what's "just" (see above)
but instead want to please "the passions of today",
and are partisan, representing "a faction or a class"*
of people.
For example, today's nominees have been opposed and subjected
to slanderous and mischievous schemes since 2000 by the People
for the American Way, NARAL, Planned Parenthood, AFL-CIO, Feminist
Majority, Americans United for Separation of Church and State,
etc. ** Aren't these "a faction" in our cultural and
political landscape?
These same leftist organizations (and many others) have influenced
the infamous decisions mentioned three paragraphs above.
Well, you might ask, "What about bribes? How can God
behold 'bribing' in all of this?" Answer: These organizations
and their leaders bribe them with campaign contributions or FAVOR
(being honored publicly or being invited to the "right"
parties and dinners, etc.). Judges and Senators are human;
they want to be liked, especially by the "elite."
So, where does this all leave us? Answer: We are left in
desperate need of Judges who. as closely as possible, represent
Deut 16:18-20, Ex 18:16 and 18:21-22 (see Memo I). Too many
(not all, thank God) of today's men and women on the bench have
no regard for God's Laws, but disdain them as well as the U.S.
Constitution which they pervert to suit their constituents and
their anti-Christ agenda. They are a "fearful and ugly form
of evil."* If you think this is an exaggeration, just look
around at your families, your malls, your schools, TV, movies,
the crime scene, child kidnapping, drugs, how people dress and
talk, etc.
Please PRAY:
- That this evil FILIBUSTER, constructed
by the organizations cited above, will COME DOWN
- That any of President Bush's nominees
who closely resemble what the God of the Bible would want will
be CONFIRMED and the others will not.
