SUPREME COURT WILL HEAR
ABORTION CASE NEXT WEEK!
Please Pray, Fast & Join Us in Washington!

OVERVIEW:

Next Tuesday Morning, April 25, 2000, the Supreme Court will hear arguments in a case that will determine whether states may ban the abominable "partial-birth" abortion procedure. This case, akin to Roe v. Wade in importance, could give America a "right" to practice blatant infanticide. If the Court rules for the abortionist in this case, this could be the last straw for a Holy God, who may already be preparing to pour out final judgment on America.

  • Stenberg v. Carhart began when Nebraska abortionist LeRoy Carhart challenged the state's ban on partial-birth abortions. A Federal Appeals Court upheld a lower court ruling against the law. Don Stenberg, Nebraska's Attorney General, appealed the case to the U.S. Supreme Court.

  • Prior to the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade ruling in 1973 abortion was illegal in most of the states. The Roe decision, which declared 1st trimester abortions a woman's constitutional right, said that states could regulate and/or restrict some abortions, especially in the last two trimesters of pregnancy. But pro-abort activists have succeeded in redefining Roe effectively to mean that a woman has a "right" to abortion from conception until natural birth.

  • Now, in late term abortions, abortionists find it "safer" to partially deliver their victims live, in breech position. Then, before the child's head emerges, to kill it by inserting a catheter and sucking out the brains. The delivery is finished; the child is dead. Congress has thrice passed the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act (PBABA). Twice President Clinton has vetoed it and we now await his third veto. Over 30 states have outlawed the barbaric practice.

  • It was recently learned that some abortionists have been marketing aborted baby parts -- that mature fetuses, obtained through partial-birth abortion, provide the best "specimens." If the Supreme Court declares a "constitutional right" to partial-birth abortion, it will herald a Dark Age for America that may far surpass the collective evils of the Hitler, Stalin and Mao eras.

The Supreme Court defied Almighty God in 1973, when it stripped from every innocent unborn American child his/her God-given, unalienable right to life. Now, our nation is cursed. Even the Church seems to have lost its will to resist the evil of abortion. Meanwhile 1.5 million infants are murdered each year in America -- millions more worldwide due to our influence. Only repentance, prayer, bold action and persistence by God's people will bring this evil to an end. God will not give the Church the revival she so desperately needs if she continues to look away from this evil.

Please Join in Agreeing Prayer:

Grant Repentance, Oh Lord, to our Supreme Court Justices. Compel them to uphold the states' right to outlaw "partial-birth" infanticide. May they move to REVERSE Roe v. Wade and to protect the lives of America's most vulnerable citizens (Ex 20:13; 23:6-7; Dt 1:16-17; 19:13; Pr 17:15; 22:28; Dan 7:25; Mt 18:6-7; 1 Jn 2:18).

SUPREME COURT TO HEAR
"GAY" SCOUT CASE NEXT WEEK!
Please Pray, Fast & Join Us in Washington!

OVERVIEW:

Next Wednesday, April 26, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments in Boy Scouts of America v. James Dale. They will decide whether the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) must accept practicing homosexuals as members and Scout leaders.

  • The Scouts are appealing a New Jersey Supreme Court ruling that subjects them to the jurisdiction of "public accommodation" laws, which outlaw discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.

  • In 1990, the Scouts relieved then 20-year-old homosexual activist James Dale from his role as an assistant scoutmaster in his Matewan, New Jersey troop. They said "the Boy Scouts of America does not admit avowed homosexuals to membership in the organization." Dale sued the Scouts for discrimination, seeking both reinstatement and monetary damages.

  • The New Jersey Supreme Court insisted that the Scouts must reinstate Dale despite the Scouts' religious roots, their Oath to remain "morally straight," and the Scout Law to be "clean."

  • The high court's ruling, which should be delivered in July, will impact the Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Brownies, other scouting groups, clubs, social organizations, campus groups, fraternal organizations, church-related youth organizations, and other groups whose standards disapprove homosexuality and/or who refuse membership or leadership to practicing homosexuals.

Honest Bible students know that both the practice and approval of homosexual practice are an abomination in God's eyes (Rom 1:32), an abomination He promises to judge severely. The very term, sodomy, refers to the practices of the ancient Sodomites, whom God utterly destroyed by raining down sulfur and brimstone upon them, an eternal reminder to all people of His displeasure toward all such gross perversion and rebellion against Him.

The Supreme Court's decision in Boy Scouts v. Dale will either be a disaster for Bible-believing Christians or a precedent that upholds the freedom of all God-fearing Americans to govern their associations according to the dictates of conscience as guided by Scripture.

Lord, Teach Us to Pray:

Lord, have MERCY! CAUSE the Court to rule for RIGHTEOUSNESS & FREEDOM. Awaken your Church to prayer & effective action with respect to this serious matter (Gen 18:20-32; 19:24-28; Lev 18:22-30; Dt 16:18-20; 1 Kg 3:9; 8:32-34; 2 Chr 19:5-7; Ps 75:4-10; Is 33:22; Jn 5:30; Jn 7:24; Acts 17:31).
