"Let everyone who is Godly pray to you while you may be found" (Psalm 32:6)
HOUSE PASSES UNBORN VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE ACT WILL SENATE TAKE UP BILL?
But first, the U.S. Senate must pass its version of the bill (S. 480).
--The bipartisan vote was 252-172 in support of the bill: 198 Republican, 53 Democrats and 1 Independent in favor of the measure. 21 Republicans, 149 Democrats and 1 Independent opposed the bill.
--Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) had proposed a watered-down version that was resolutely defeated by a 169-229 vote.
--Twenty-four (24) states have already enacted laws that recognize unborn babies as human victims of violent crimes. Eleven (11) of these states provide this protection throughout the period of in utero development, while the other 13 provide protection during specific stages of development.
-- "The ultimate finish line for this bill is very clear," said Rep. Lindsay Graham (R-SC), sponsor of H.R. 503. "The President has said if we send it to him, he'll sign it into law. We've still got a lot of work to do, but today was a very good start."
--In 1999, the House passed a similar measure. Yet, the Senate never brought the bill to a vote. With a 50-50 split in the Senate now, the Pro-life Senators, who are in the minority, will need the Lord to fight this battle.
--This legislation does NOT make abortion a crime, even though abortion is violence against the unborn child.
