CALL TO CHRISTIAN
Rally, Pray-in to Support
Moore, Ten Commandments
If you do not obey these commandments
I will set My face against you (Lev 26:14-21).
Yesterday, a federal appeals court cleared the way
for Circuit Court Judge Myron Thompson to require Alabama Chief
Justice Roy Moore to remove the Ten Commandments monument he
erected in the State Judicial Building. Christian leaders are
responding with a traditional rally in Montgomery and a peaceful
"pray-in" with civil disobedience, only if necessary,
to prevent removal of the Commandments (see www.prayeralert.org/judge/archives/index.html
- Dr. Herb Titus, Moore's attorney, told reporters Moore will
appeal his case to the U.S. Supreme Court and would not speculate
about what Moore will do if ordered to remove the monument.
- Rev. Pat Mahoney (Christian Defense Coalition),
Rev. Rob Schenck (National Clergy Council), and
John Giles (Alabama Christian Coalition) are calling
believers to join them in Montgomery for a peaceful "pray-in"
outside the Alabama Judicial Building. Giles told reporters,
"We don't want the monument to come outeven if it requires
us going to jail."
- Judge Moore will "neither encourage nor discourage"
nonviolent protests. "People have a right to stand up
for what they believe," he said in a recent Alabama
- Baptist Pastor Rick Scarborough (Vision America),
who resigned his Texas pastorate to call pastors to faithfulness
in civic duty, is asking "thousands of pastors, God-fearing
Americans and elected officials" to rally at the Alabama
Supreme Court on Saturday, August 16, at 10 a.m. (see http://www.vision-america.org/-messages/030721rsrallyappeal.htm
- Polls say Alabamans support Judge Moore (77%) and that a
majority (52%) approve of civil disobedience to support him.
Neither the Alabama Supreme Court police, nor Alabama's State
Troopers are likely to respond to a federal order to remove the
- Attorney General John Ashcroft and President Bush must decide
whether to force compliance.
The precise date for any effort to remove the commandments
is uncertain. Rev. Mahoney is urging supporters to attend Rev.
Scarborough's rally on the 16th and to stay extra days. He will
post actual dates and times, when the information is known (plus
hotel & motel information), on his Web Site www.christiandefensecoalition.net).
He is receiving email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please Stand with Us in Special Prayer:
- Lord, Strengthen Judge Moore for
the days ahead. Give Gov. Bob Riley & every Alabama official
Courage to stand. May President Bush & Atty. Gen. John Ashcroft
stand for RIGHT & ACT to RESTRAIN the overreaching Federal

11:32; Acts 5:4; Rom 13:11; Eph 5:14-16).
- MOTIVATE thousands of Christians
to STAND UP for the Ten Commandments in Alabama. May the American
