"Let everyone who is Godly pray to you while you may be found"  (Psalm 32:6)

Daschle & Friends Hell-bent to Make Cloning Legal Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle (D-SD) has moved a vote on a human cloning ban to April. While the delay has given opponents time to organize, Sen. Sam Brownback (R-KS) has been able to recruit 23 co-sponsors to support his bill, renamed Brownback-Landrieu Human Cloning Prohibition Act (S. 1899). An identical House measure passed last July, 265-162, that makes all human cloning a federal crime.

--Two competing bills, one introduced by Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA), S. 1893, and another by Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-CA), S. 1758, are major threats to S.1899's passage. Both would outlaw "reproductive cloning" (creating clones to bring to live birth), but explicitly legalize the cloning of human embryos for research (therapeutic) purposes. Polls show that a majority of Americans oppose human cloning, but are ambivalent to "therapeutic cloning."

--Lobbyists from the biotech industry and groups representing disease victims have relentlessly pressured Congress not to outlaw cloning. Some American scientists and businessmen fear a ban will diminish the U.S. leadership role in the scientific world.

--Numerous studies have proven that cloned stem cells are no panacea for the treatment of human disease and multiplied billions of human eggs would be required to treat American victims of diseases.

--More importantly, embryonic cloning is unnecessary. Adult stem cell research has proven remarkably successful. Some avant-garde clinics have already abandoned embryonic stem cell research to pursue more promising and less controversial adult cell research. Successful treatment of disease with readily available adult stem cells does not require the mass murder of untold numbers of tiny human beings.

--While some liberal Democrats like Mary Landrieu (D-LA) have joined Brownback, a few conservative Senators who normally vote "pro-life" have suggested they may vote to legalize cloning for therapeutic research. A defection by any of the historic, pro-life-voting Senators could doom the Brownback bill.

--Should Brownback-Landrieu Human Cloning Prohibition Act (S. 1899) pass, President Bush has promised to sign it.

Human cloning is a regressive step beyond legalized abortion toward ever-more-godless medical and scientific barbarism. If it is not stopped, the cloning industry will routinely mass-produce and kill embryos for experiments and treatments in our "Brave New World." Sen. Brownback has warned, "This issue must be addressed by the Senate before the technology overtakes the debate."

Please Join Us in Prevailing Prayer:

--Father, Please INTERVENE! COMPELL our Senators to ban all human embryo cloning permanently. SUBDUE those who seek to clone human beings & DEFEAT their plans. MOVE President Bush to SPEAK OUT boldly against human cloning.

--May Your people ARISE, PRAY WITHOUT CEASING & ACT to prevent this evil practice from being accepted in our nation. SEND REVIVAL, which alone will turn the American people from ever-increasing barbarism (Gen 11:3-9; Dt 29:29; 30:19-20; 2 Chr 7:14; Ps 1:all; 82:all; 25:4-5; Pr 2:6-7; 8:35-36; Lk 18:1; Rom 12:1-3; Phil 2:13-16; Jas 4:6-10).
