"Let everyone who is Godly pray to you while you may be found"  (Psalm 32:6)

Great Election Results Were Not Enough

Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have achieved the goal. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me... in Christ Jesus. All of us who are mature should take this view... Only let us live up to what we have already attained (Phil 3:13-16 paraphrase).

Christians who care about America have much to be thankful from the 2002 election. Thank God for His mercy. But we must also take a hard look at what lies ahead.

--The Republican National Committee for Life (the RNC/Life PAC) supports only GOP candidates who are Pro-life without exception. Of the 20 Congressional candidates they backed this year, 16 were elected. Ten will be Freshmen Members in the 108th Congress.

--By contrast, the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL) spent $ 10 million to support 11 pro-abort Congressional candidates. Ten of those eleven candidates were defeated.

--Emily's List, another dedicated pro-abortion Political Action Committee that supports only female Democrats, raised and spent $21 million to elect 21-targeted candidates. Of those 16 were defeated. Their two Senate candidates, incumbent-Senator Jean Carnahan (MO) and Governor Jeanne Shaheen (NH), had they won would have prevented the GOP from gaining control of the U.S. Senate.

--Pro-life women made big gains in the election. Only seven of the 74 women in the last Congress voted Pro-life. But Pro-life Republicans Marilyn Musgrave (R-CO), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Katherine Harris (R-FL) and Candice Miller (R-MI) will increase their number.

--Pro-lifers still face a daunting challenge in the new U.S. Senate. Of 100 members, 53 are on record as supporting Roe v. Wade. Seven Republicans, Ben Campbell (CO), Lincoln Chafee (RI), Susan Collins (ME), Olympia Snowe (ME), Arlen Specter (PA), Ted Stevens (AK), and John Warner (VA), often vote pro-abortion. It takes 60 Senate votes to end a filibuster and, despite the elections, a miracle will be required to get Pro-life bills through the Senate. The same applies to Pro-life judicial confirmations.

Pro-lifers made tremendous gains in this Election. Yet the Abortion Holocaust continues. God's judgments are still unfolding and we are on very dangerous ground to be embarking upon a new war with Iraq. The Church and nation are still in the Valley of Decision. The past two elections have shown us two things, 1.) If Christians don't vote, it can mean disaster; but 2.) If we repent, cry out to God, and persist in the battle, we can count on God to do great things.

Our high hope is for revival in the Church, awakening in the Nation and an abortion-free America. We should take courage, draw renewed strength from God and believe Him for even greater things to advance the Cause of Life and Righteousness in our land.

Please Join us in Faithful, Persistent Prayer:

--Lord, You are on Your Throne! THANK YOU for giving us hope.

--ANOINT & MOTIVATE our new leaders to advance Your agenda. Compel the President & Congress to put LIFE at the top of their agenda.

--Revive Your people to press on the fight to turn America back to You. In Jesus' Name, Amen (Ps 106:all; 118:all; 136:all; Gal 6:9; Eph 6:10-19; 1 Tim 2:1ff).
