"Let everyone who is Godly pray to you while you may be found" (Psalm 32:6)
Daschle Buys Time for Advocates of Cannibalism
Senate Majority Leader Tom Dasche (D-SD), breaking yet another promise, again has postponed debate on the Brownback/Landrieu Human Cloning Prohibition Act (S. 1899) until late June. Senate consideration of pro-homosexual Federal Hate Crimes legislation seems to be his first priority. This allows the human cloning movement (eager to "create" human embryos to murder and obtain their body tissues) to march forward.
**Daschle believes time is on his side. Putting off the debate and vote has given cloning advocates more time to wear down the opposition and to nurture allies. Indeed, formerly pro-life Republican Senators Orrin Hatch (UT) and Strom Thurmond (SC) have become converts to the "therapeutic" cloning movement.
**A University of Missouri researcher has been granted a U.S. patent on technology to clone "all mammals." Though the U of MO denies it was intended to involve the cloning of humans, experts believe human cloning will be granted if Congress does not ban the practice.
**A Massachusetts researcher has applied for a patent on the tissues from cloned "embryos, fetuses... including human and ungulate tissues," and the "progeny" of their "offspring" (i.e., patent rights to human clones, their born and/or cloned children and grandchildren and their tissues and body parts).
**A Kentucky fertility clinic doctor told the House Government Reform subcommittee last week "he would clone a human baby [offshore] later this year... 2002 will be the year of the clones." He added, "This genie is out of the bottle and it keeps getting bigger by the hour...There is no way that this genie is going back into the bottle."
**The U.S. Patent Office is in the final stages of determining whether a New York medical school professor can patent a "humouse" (part human - part mouse). The patent was filed by cloning opponents to pressure Congress to set limits on the patenting of human life.
**Senators Ted Kennedy (D-MA), Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Arlen Specter (R-PA) and Hatch (R-UT), have introduced a ban that applies only to cloned embryos implanted within a woman's womb and intended for birth. A bill by Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-ND) would allow cloned embryos to be implanted into artificial, animal or human wombs for later tissue or organ harvesting. Both bills would essentially authorize unlimited human clone production for research, cannibalization and other "therapeutic" purposes.
In the eight months since President Bush approved fetal stem cell research on a very "limited number of existing cell lines," the preparation, plans, and practice by the human cloning industry have made horrifying advances. God-fearing Christians must pray and act to see the Senate takes action on the bill co-sponsored by Senators Sam Brownback (R-KS) and Mary Landrieu (D-LA), Human Cloning Prohibition Act (S.1899). It is the only bill before the Senate that totally bans any and all human cloning.
