everyone who is Godly pray to you while you may be found"

THE TRUE STATE OF
THE UNION
Our nation is at war, our economy is in recession, and the
civilized world faces unprecedented dangers. Yet the state of
our union has never been stronger (George W. Bush, 1/29/02).
[The image's] head was of fine gold
[its chest & arms - silver, belly & thigh - bronze, legs
- iron, feet - partly iron, partly clay]... A stone...struck
the image on its feet...and broke them in pieces. Then the iron,
the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were [all] crushed
together, and became like chaff... the wind carried them away
so that no trace of them was found... The stone...became a great
mountain and filled the whole earth. (Dan 2:32-35).
President Bush delivered a rousing State of the Union address
Tuesday, outlining his goals to win the War on Terrorism, strengthen
Homeland Defense, and revitalize the U.S. economy by creating
jobs. But while the speech was bold, upbeat and inspirational,
the President again praised Islam, and set the stage to embrace
a plethora of new liberal programs, while avoiding the themes
of deepest concern to God and Bible-believing Christians. It
was a clay and iron speech.
**The President promised that
"America will always stand firm for the non-negotiable demands
of human dignity, the rule of law; limits on the power of the
state; respect for women; private property; free speech; equal
justice; and religious tolerance."
**"Our war against terror
is only beginning," he said and sent a warning to "Iran,
Iraq and North Korea," saying "states like these and
their terrorist allies constitute an axis of evil."
**He forewarned America that
deficit spending is necessary to win the war and defeat recession,
listing liberal federal programs he will champion, a list Al
Gore could easily have written."Join me on these important
domestic issues in the same spirit of cooperation we've applied
to our war against terrorism," he asked.
**Notably absent from the President's
speech was any mention of U.S. policy toward Israel. No mention
of "the enemy within" (i.e. anti-American Muslims here
in America). Rather Bush spoke of "Islam's own rich history,
with its centuries of learning, and tolerance and progress."
**Ironically, Bush ended his
speech speaking of our enemies' "missions of suicide and
murder," their embrace of "tyranny and death as a cause
and a creed." Then he said, "We stand for a different
choice, made long ago, on the day of our founding. We affirm
it again today. We choose freedom and the dignity of every life."
**Yet President Bush made no
mention of the abortion holocaust in America. He spoke of combating
"evil" five times, yet made no reference to the profusion
of greed, abortion, divorce, adultery, pornography, drugs, immorality,
perversion, and other "evils" that are destroying America
from within and making our nation akin to Sodom & Gomorrah.
It may appear to some that "our union has never been
stronger," but it is not. What America desperately needs
is leadership; leadership that can apply the kind of energy and
focus President Bush has applied to the war against terrorism;
leadership toward Biblical repentance. God is the "Stone"
who will exalt or abase America. If we do not deal aggressively
with our rebellion against God, our outwardly strong and rich
nation, like the clay-footed image that Daniel described, will
be crushed by the Stone we have rejected.
