"Let everyone who is Godly pray to you while you may be found"  (Psalm 32:6)

Bush Plan a Step in the Right Direction

"And he will take the best of your fields, your vineyards, and your olive groves... of your grain and your vintage... He will take a tenth of your sheep. And you will be his servants. And you will cry out in that day because of your king whom you have chosen for yourselves, and the LORD will not hear..." Nevertheless the people...said, "No, but we [want to have] a king over us" (I Sam 8: 9 b-18).

President Bush is trying to make good on his campaign promise to implement "tax relief for every American," with some targeted relief for families. But Democrats are lining up to fight Bush, complaining that his plan is too big, and gives back too much to the wealthy. (http://www.newsday.com/ap/washington/ap726.htm)

--The American Tax system has strayed far from any standard of Biblical righteousness. As our worship to Him, God requires only a tithe, 10% of income, which supports the ministers and the ministry of His Church. Samuel warned the Israelites that an oppressive king would take an additional 10% of their income. In 1998, the average family paid $26,434 in federal, state and local taxes, more than they spent on clothes, food and shelter.

Americans are now tax slaves. President Bush's tax plan is a baby step away from tax tyranny. Christians should support his plan with their prayers.

--Heavenly Father, FORGIVE US for passively accepting ungodly, confiscatory taxation. Forgive us for giving greater obeisance to Caesar than we do to You. Turn our nation back to You and away from statist idolatry. Bless President Bush's effort to reduce federal taxes. May it pass with overwhelming support from Congress and the American People. In Jesus' Name. Amen (I Sam 8: 9b-18; Neh 4:14; Mt 4:10; 22:21; Rom 13:7).
