"Let everyone who is Godly pray to you while you may be found"  (Psalm 32:6)

Confirmation Will Be a Victory for Justice in America!

"Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked... who sharpen their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows; bitter words... at the blameless; Suddenly they shoot at him and do not fear... But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; Suddenly they shall be wounded... He will make them stumble over their own tongue... All men shall fear... for they shall wisely consider His doing... The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and trust in Him. And all the upright in heart shall glory." (Ps 64:2-10)

The Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday ended contentious hearings by approving John Ashcroft's confirmation by a vote of 10-8. (see http://www.washtimes.com/national/default-2001131225354.htm )

--Full Senate debate is now in progress and is expected to continue late into the night with a vote some time Thursday.

--Left-wing interest groups have vowed to punish Democrat senators who fail to oppose Ashcroft.

--Sen. Russell Feingold (D-WI) was the only committee Democrat to break rank and support Ashcroft. At least four Senate Democrats have publicly expressed their intent to vote in favor of Ashcroft. Yielding to pressure from party leaders, Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA) has said he will not mount the filibuster he had threatened. Thus, confirmation appears certain.

A "great cloud of witnesses" will be watching the debate today and the vote tomorrow. Christians should pray aggressively until the last vote has been cast.

--Heavenly Father, thank You for giving us Senators with integrity and the Fear of the Lord. Protect those who have been threatened by their "colleagues" for doing what is right. Deal with all who have wickedly scandalized John Ashcroft, a man after your own heart. May our Senate strongly affirm Ashcroft. Mightily use our new Attorney General to restore justice in America (Ps 37:12-15; 54:2-7; 89:14-15; 140:8-13; Pr 17:15, 26; Is 41:10; 1John 3:7).
