"Let everyone who is Godly pray to you while you may be found" (Psalm 32:6)
Christians Who Understand Scripture are the Key
For all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever (Gen 13:15).
Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, Your servants, to whom You swore by Your own self, and said to them... "All this land that I have spoken of I give to your descendants, and they shall inherit it forever (Ex 32:13).
As we observe Thanksgiving, let us pray for Israel and our nation's policy toward God's covenant land. The cornerstone of the Bush administration's Mid-East policy has become commitment to establishing a Palestinian state - placing continued pressure upon the Jewish people to give up land promised to them by God, Himself. Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and a majority of Israelis have now accepted a Palestinian state as inevitable. But what does God think? (See Jer 12:14-16).
Last week 89 U.S. Senators asked President Bush to stop putting hypocritical U.S. pressure on Israel. Multiple Palestinian terrorist attacks against Israelis have been taking place every single day for weeks. The Senators wrote, "The American people would never excuse us for not going after the terrorists with all our strength and might. Yet that is what some have demanded of the Israeli government after every terrorist incident they suffer. No matter what the provocation..."
The 89 Senators also asked the president to restrain Secretary of State Colin Powell from criticizing Israel in the policy speech he delivered in Kentucky on Monday. Nevertheless Powell called upon Israelis to end their "occupation" of the Palestinian territories and urged them to freeze the building of settlements in those territories. Israelis who are building homes and communities there responded, "The land in Judea, Samaria and Gaza cannot be defined as occupied land, as it is the land of our forefathers... The existence of our communities is our historical right... You cannot impose a... freeze on [the right of Israelis] to live in their own country" (Jerusalem Post, Nov 21, 2001).
In a positive development, Powell did declare that there could be no progress in the Middle East until Palestinians both ended terrorism against Israelis and accepted the idea of a permanent Israeli state.
As we observe Thanksgiving, we have much for which to be thankful, especially God's undeserved mercy, which may be extended to us because of our sincere friendship with Israel (see Gen 12:3ff). But if we withdraw from our friends we will find ourselves at odds with the God of the Bible. Our President is under extreme pressure to appease both our Muslim allies and enemies. His closest advisors have little regard for God or Scripture. The intercessory prayers of God's people may alone be keeping any remaining hedge of God's protection around our own land (Gen 18:20-33).
Please Join us in Prevailing Prayer:
--Heavenly Father, Draw our President close to you. May he HEAR your voice, LEARN Your Word and DO Your will. Give Him strong advisors who love You & understand your Word regarding the land of Israel. Stir your praying people to remain steadfast in prayer for Israel. In Jesus' Name. Amen (1 Kg 3:5-15; 2 Kg 22:18-19; Ps 1:1; 119:24; Pr 11:14 ).
