"Let everyone who is Godly pray to you while you may be found" (Psalm 32:6)
Prayer & Repentance Will Bring God's Mercy! "Even now declares the Lord,"return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning. Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your GodÖ He relents from sending calamity.î (Joel 2:12-13) Until now, God has miraculously preserved our nation from Islamic terrorist attacks. Is our cup now full? Will God further lift or restore His hand of protection? President Bush has called for Americans to observe Friday, September 14, as a day of "Prayer and Remembrance." God will hears prayer only from repentant hearts (see Ps 66:18; Is 1:15; 59:2; Jer 7:16; 11:14; 14:12; Mic 3:4). And before repentance must come confession of sin: our turning from God and rejecting His laws, our shedding of innocent blood by abortion and embracing heterosexual and homosexual immorality, our worshiping mammon and other idols, our tolerance of evil (calling what God calls evil, good, and what God calls good, evil), and allowing and teaching our children to sin, to name a few. While some of Americaís leaders are speaking with sensible humility, many more speak of Americaís "might," "power," "greatness," and "goodness" without even a mention of God. Given our collective arrogance, we who do have a relationship with God through Christ must cry out to Him, all the more, for MERCY; that He might use this tragedy to lead our nation to HUMILITY & REPENTANCE!
Please Join us in Unceasing Prayer:
Heavenly Father, our ARROGANCE & PRIDE are ever before us. Forgive us! Grant us HUMILITY to bow in our affliction and acknowledge You. Grant each and all of us MERCY & REPENTANCE! Enable our President, Church & civic leaders to lead the nation in humble repentance during this critical hour. May the "Day of Prayer & Remembrance" be a catalyst for weeks of heartfelt prayer, and the beginning of a national return to You. In Jesus' Name, Amen (2 Sam 22:27-28; 2 Kg 21:13-16; 2 Chr 7:14; 33:12-13; 34:27).
Important Correction: Tuesday, we sent you the text of President Abraham Lincoln's 1863 proclamation calling for a national day of prayer and repentance. It should have read, "We have forgotten the gracious hand (not "land") which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own."
