"Let everyone who is Godly pray to you while you may be found" (Psalm 32:6)
DEMS INTEND TO "BORK" ASHCROFT
Prayer Must Uphold Bush's Best Appointment "Moreover you shall select... able men, such as fear God, men of truth... (Ex 18:21a).
Democrats could make the confirmation process even nastier for Ashcroft than they did for U.S. Supreme Court nominees Robert Bork in 1987 and Clarence Thomas in 1991. Democrats defeated Bork after subjecting him to unprecedented mistreatment. Thomas was confirmed, but only after subjection to unthinkable lies, brutal public abuse, and humiliating character assassination. The real reason Bork and Thomas were violated was their godly stance on abortion. Since then, Washington politics have grown even nastier, fueled by an ever-more brazen anti-Christ spirit.
"Ashcroft is an evangelical Christian, scrupulously honest, genuinely conservative, a former Missouri Attorney General, governor and United States senator. He has stellar academic credentials...graduated from Yale with honors and the prestigious University of Chicago School of Law. He is a man of unimpeachable integrity who is without skeletons" (David Limbaugh, The Washington Times, 12-26-00).
Ashcroft, a pro-life champion, clearly does not meet the Democrats' pro-abortion litmus test. On national TV Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) called Ashcroft "one of five people in the United States most off the mainstream... Many who have such extreme pro-life views, as Sen. Ashcroft does, believe that [the law banning threats or violence at abortion clinics] should not be enforced..." http://www.washtimes.com/national/default-20011122322.htm
To be confirmed, Ashcroft must win approval from 2/3 of the Senate (now split: 50 Democrats & 50 Republicans). He will first undergo scrutiny by the Senate Judiciary Committee. Chaired by Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT), the committee routinely OK'd Bill Clinton's liberal appointees, most believing "a president is entitled to choose his people." Democrats seem not to see it that way now.
Civil government was ordained by God to administer justice (Rom 13:1-5). Perversion of justice quickly leads to lawlessness and perversion throughout society, as we have seen these past eight years. Praying Christians hold a key to John Ashcroft's confirmation and to godly success for President-elect George W. Bush. But we must war in prayer against the principalities who so viciously oppose both.
